Wabtec Acquires Super Metal to Grow Its Railway Maintenance Portfolio

Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB), a global leader in freight and transit rail, announced today a definitive agreement to acquire Super Metal, a provider of automated vehicles and equipment solutions for rail operations. Super Metal is a leading Brazilian company in the rail industry’s maintenance of way segment. This acquisition complements our Nordco acquisition and accelerates our international market expansion strategy. The acquisition’s financial terms were not disclosed.

Super Metal has approximately 30 years of experience supplying a wide range of automated vehicles and maintenance equipment, including rail and tie maintenance trucks and railcar movers. The company also specializes in machining, services, development, and project implementation for railroads all throughout Brazil.

With Super Metal based in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Wabtec now has a strong rail maintenance portfolio in South America. Wabtec’s current freight rail manufacturing business in Contagem, Brazil, is also complemented.
