Frontier Aerospace Corporation, a pioneer in next-generation liquid rocket engines for in-space propulsion, today announced the completion of a $10 million Series A funding round led by AEI HorizonX.

Frontier was established in 2014 with the goal of developing innovative space propulsion solutions. Frontier employs a tried-and-true rapid development approach that yields mission-optimized and extensively tested designs at a low cost.

Frontier’s recent delivery of flight thrusters for NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services Program represents the completion of Frontier’s first concept-to-flight thruster program. Thruster development and testing for NASA and government primes is ongoing across a variety of thrust classes, for missions ranging from deep space exploration to commercial space and defense.

Frontier offers propulsion technologies from concept to product development and certification. Engines are used in missile defense, lunar landers/deep space applications, space transportation, and earth observation satellites, among other things.

AEI HorizonX was established in 2017 as Boeing’s corporate venture capital arm and is now managed by AE Industrial Partners, a $5 billion AUM private equity firm specializing in aerospace, defense & government services, space, power & utility services, and specialty industrial markets.

AEI HorizonX is an active participant in venture capital within its core strategic areas of focus, having invested in over 50 startups globally and developing numerous relationships and partnerships throughout the aerospace, technology, and investing ecosystems.
