E Source, a prominent player in providing data, insights, and advisory services to utilities, has acquired Utilligent, a leading management consulting firm specializing in guiding utilities, including major investor-owned and municipal utilities in the US, to deliver energy efficiently and sustainably to millions of customers.

This acquisition marks the 10th addition to E Source’s roster of acquisitions since 2020, signifying the company’s strong commitment to aiding utilities in their journey to become Sustainable Utilities. These Sustainable Utilities are envisioned to be environmentally responsible, capable of equitably delivering safe and reliable energy, and financially stable.

E Source’s CEO, Dave Perotti, highlighted the importance of Utilligent’s integration into their operations, emphasizing the alignment of values and client focus. He stated that together, they become a more potent partner and advisor, accelerating utilities’ transition to a sustainable future.

Utilligent brings to the table deep-rooted utility expertise coupled with a data-driven approach. This enhances E Source’s capabilities in areas like smart infrastructure (comprising advanced metering infrastructure, distributed energy resources, and transportation electrification) and customer engagement. Additionally, it adds fresh dimensions of expertise such as strategy and data transformation, utility operations, program execution, business process optimization, and organizational change management.

Utilligent’s track record speaks volumes about its ability to execute high-impact, high-visibility, and often high-risk technology transformation programs. Some notable accomplishments include leadership roles in deploying over 14 million meters as part of two of the largest advanced metering infrastructure projects in North America, leading the largest pipeline integrity project in the US, and successfully executing customer omnichannel digital transformations that resulted in the highest J.D. Power customer satisfaction scores in years.

The acquisition also leads to a 30% increase in E Source’s employee count. This move expands its offerings in core solution areas, strengthening its portfolio of digital, data-driven solutions. These solutions empower utilities to address their rapidly evolving customer needs, infrastructure challenges, and business requirements effectively.
