Runnings, a Minnesota-based retailer, recently agreed to buy R.P. Home & Harvest, a family-owned business with 22 shops and one distribution center in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
Runnings’ footprint will grow to 80 sites, servicing consumers in 12 states from New York to Montana, following the closing of this transaction.
From the customers and communities to the employees and vendors, we truly believe this is an excellent opportunity for everyone involved, said Runnings president Brian Odegaard. These stores and communities are very similar to the markets we currently serve, and both companies knew this would be a great fit from a culture, values, and operations standpoint after many discussions with R.P. Home & Harvest’s leadership.
It’s pretty amazing how quickly this all came together, said R.P. Home & Harvest president Jason Plummer. This wasn’t even on the radar a few months ago, but when a win-win opportunity presents itself.
It’s a thrilling experience. Runnings has been doing this for over 75 years and is one of America’s best farm, home, and outdoor-store enterprises, well appreciated by consumers and competitors alike. We are both family-owned businesses, which matters a lot to us.
This transaction would not have been possible if we did not have complete trust in Runnings’ ability to deliver outstanding results for all stakeholders.
Runnings and R.P. Home & Harvest’s transaction is set to close in June.
Runnings will continue to operate the stores as R.P. Home & Harvest for a brief time as they transition to their well-known brand.
I visited many R.P. Home & Harvest stores and was thoroughly impressed, especially with some of the team members I met, Odegaard stated. We can’t wait to add these stores and the R.P. Home & Harvest team members to our growing company.
