What is GPT 4

GPT-4 is the successor of GPT-3, one of the largest and most complex language models ever created. It is an artificial intelligence (AI) research project being developed by OpenAI. Although there is no official announcement about its release, it is rumored that GPT-4 will be launched sometime in 2023. There are speculations that it may already be powering the newly-launched ChatGPT functionality within Microsoft’s Bing search engine. However, this is unconfirmed.

GPT-4 may not necessarily be trained on more data than its predecessor. Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, has dismissed the idea that it is trained on 100 trillion parameters as “complete bullshit.” While some sources claim that it could be up to 100 times larger than GPT-3, putting it in the region of 17 trillion parameters, Altman has gone on record as saying that it may not be much larger than GPT-3. Instead of just throwing more data at it, the effort may be put into improving its ability to utilize existing data.

GPT-4 will likely be better at generating computer code. OpenAI has been hiring programmers and software developers who have competence in using human language to describe what their code does. This could lead to more powerful versions of tools such as Microsoft’s Github Copilot.

GPT-4 will not add graphics to its capabilities. While some speculated that the next evolution of generative AI would involve a combination of the text generation of GPT-3 with the image creation abilities of OpenAI’s other flagship tool, Dall-E 2, Altman has denied this is true.

Some people may be disappointed by GPT-4. When something causes as much excitement as GPT-3 has done, there is an inevitability that the next iterations may not seem so groundbreaking.

It could also be argued that the development of GPT-4 and similar language models raises questions about the ethical and societal implications of AI. The technology has the potential to revolutionize industries such as healthcare, finance, and education, but it also raises concerns about the displacement of human workers, the potential for bias in algorithms, and the loss of privacy. It is important for researchers and developers to consider these issues as they continue to push the boundaries of what AI can achieve.

Another potential development with GPT-4 is the integration of more personalized and adaptive features. This could involve training the model on individual users’ data to create tailored responses and recommendations. Additionally, GPT-4 may have improved multitasking abilities, allowing it to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, further expanding its capabilities.

While the specifics of GPT-4 are still largely unknown, it is clear that its release will be a significant milestone in the development of AI and language models. As technology continues to advance, it is important to consider the potential benefits and risks, and to use it responsibly and ethically.
