HireVue, a leading platform specializing in video interviewing and text-enabled recruiting solutions, has recently announced its acquisition of Modern Hire, an intelligent hiring platform. The strategic move aims to strengthen HireVue’s end-to-end hiring automation solutions, as stated in the announcement made on May 9.
By combining their respective platforms, HireVue and Modern Hire intend to enhance pre-hire assessments and interviews with the power of “ethical AI.” This acquisition allows HireVue to leverage Modern Hire’s Virtual Job Tryout role-based assessments, which have gained popularity as more employers seek ways to hire based on skills.
The acquisition aligns with the current trend of increased automation in the hiring process, accelerated by practices developed during the pandemic. HR Dive reports that virtual hiring practices are expected to continue, and hiring platforms are now focusing on creating solutions for the later, more complex stages of talent acquisition. Pre-assessments, on-demand video interviews, and job simulations have become popular tools as hiring managers seek to utilize data and AI in identifying the most qualified candidates.
However, it is important for employers to exercise caution when relying on automation and AI in the hiring process. The use of automated tools that track and manage workers is being scrutinized by federal agencies, including the White House, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Department of Justice. In addition, New York City has introduced regulations restricting the use of AI in hiring, with enforcement set to begin on July 5.
