Spline Raised $10M Series A to Innovate Collaborative 3D Design with AI

by

Spline, a New York City-based provider of a collaborative 3D design platform, has raised $10 million in Series A funding. The investment round was led by Third Point Ventures, with notable contributions from Gradient Ventures, Y Combinator, Firestreak, Jorn van Dijk (CEO of Framer), and Guillermo Rauch (CEO of Vercel). Dan Moskowitz, a Partner at Third Point, will join Spline’s board of directors.

Growth and Expansion Plans:

1. AI Integration and Product Development:
The funds will primarily be directed towards advancing Spline’s product development, with a strong emphasis on integrating AI into its 3D design platform. This includes simplifying the creative process for users by introducing AI-driven features that enhance design capabilities and streamline workflows.

2. Enhancing Platform Features:
Spline plans to enhance its platform by building on recent updates such as the real-time API and webhooks. The real-time API allows designers to connect APIs with variables and trigger events within their 3D scenes based on incoming data, while webhooks enable custom URLs for integrating third-party tools. These advancements will be further leveraged to create AI experiences, where designers can interact with AI models to control the appearance and dynamics of objects in their 3D environments.

3. Expansion into New Markets and User Segments:
With the new funding, Spline aims to expand its user base from individual designers to large enterprises, broadening its market reach. This includes developing additional features and support for different platforms, including Android, to accommodate a diverse range of users and use cases.

4. Scaling Operations and Support:
To support its growing user base and product offerings, Spline will scale its operations and customer support teams. This expansion will ensure that users receive high-quality support and can fully leverage the platform’s capabilities, enhancing overall user satisfaction.

5. International Market Penetration:
Spline is also targeting international markets to broaden its global footprint. By enhancing its platform’s features and expanding its reach, Spline aims to capture new opportunities and serve a global audience of 3D designers and creative professionals.

Under the leadership of Alejandro León, founder and CEO, Spline continues to innovate with features like 3D vector editing, motion, interactive experiences, and AI generation tools. The company’s web-based platform enables designers to create 3D content and interactive experiences without coding, making it a valuable tool for creators worldwide.
