Miter Raises $38M to Modernize Construction Workforce Management

Miter, a cloud-based platform specializing in human capital management (HCM), field operations, and expense management for the construction and field service sectors, has announced a total funding raise of $38 million, including a recent $23 million round led by existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and Coatue Management LLC.

Founded in 2021, Miter aims to support contractors in confidently building critical infrastructure such as energy systems, housing, transportation, and data centers. Its mission is to modernize how construction and field service companies operate by streamlining HR, finance, and operations through a unified cloud-based platform.

Miter replaces outdated desktop applications and generic business software with a solution purpose-built for the construction industry. Its platform simplifies tasks such as job costing, union and Certified Payroll compliance, employee onboarding, time tracking, expense management, and benefits administration—enabling contractors to build stronger teams, manage labor costs, and scale efficiently.

“With the support of our customers, we’re creating a platform that helps forward-thinking contractors adapt and grow,” said Connor Watumull, Miter’s Co-Founder and CEO. “Our goal is to unlock the full potential of contractors everywhere.”

Over 700 contractors, ranging from small businesses to large firms, have adopted Miter to unify their HR, finance, and operations. Miter integrates seamlessly with major construction ERP systems like Sage, NetSuite, and Acumatica, as well as project management and field service tools including ServiceTitan, BuildOps, Procore, and HCSS.

“Miter rescued us from payroll and time-tracking chaos,” said Garrett Henke, COO of American Roofing & Metal. “It’s enabled us to take on projects in new states and the public sector, which wouldn’t have been possible with our previous system. Plus, the real-time labor cost insights are a game changer.”

Kent Bennett, partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, highlighted the complexity contractors face in managing skilled labor across diverse, overlapping projects. “Connor and the team at Miter are tackling one of the industry’s biggest pain points with a smart, scalable solution. The overwhelmingly positive customer feedback speaks to the strength of the product and the team behind it. We’re excited to continue supporting their journey.”
