HEN Nozzles, a leader in firefighting innovation, has raised $8 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its fluidics technology, which is designed to extinguish fires 300% faster while using 67% less water. This funding comes at a critical time as wildfires and structure fires become more frequent and intense globally, while firefighting technology has seen little advancement in decades. The new capital will support the scaling and deployment of HEN’s cutting-edge fire suppression solutions, bringing the company’s life-saving technology to more fire departments worldwide.
Innovating the Firefighting Landscape
HEN Nozzles’ fluidics technology marks a significant advancement in firefighting, addressing long-standing inefficiencies in fire suppression. According to Sunny Sethi, CEO of HEN Nozzles, “Our innovation addresses decades of inefficiencies in fire suppression and provides departments with solutions that save time, water, and lives. This funding will allow us to scale our technology and get it into the hands of more firefighters worldwide.”
The company’s patented adjustable smoothbore nozzle allows firefighters to dynamically adapt the water stream to different fire conditions. This innovation not only speeds up fire suppression but also reduces water usage, which is crucial in modern fire scenarios where minimizing water waste and property damage is a priority. HEN’s technology offers a sustainable solution by conserving water and increasing firefighting efficiency.
Disrupting a Growing Market
The global fire safety equipment market, valued at $29.82 billion in 2022, is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.4% through 2030. HEN Nozzles is positioned to disrupt this market with its smarter, more efficient fire suppression technology. The company’s advancements in fluidics and fire stream development represent the first major innovations in firefighting in over sixty years.
Ray McCormack, former FDNY firefighter and director of business development at HEN Nozzles, highlighted the urgency of these innovations, stating, “Today’s firefighting challenges are expanding driven by highly combustible materials in modern homes and rapid extinguishment needs to be at the forefront. HEN has built innovative tools that enable a better way to fight fire.”
Expanding Partnerships and Impact
HEN Nozzles has already garnered the support of several fire departments and organizations, including CALFIRE, the US Marine Corps, Kansas City FD, Ontario FD, Maui FD, and Sacramento FD. The company aims to expand its technology to an additional 1,000 fire departments by 2025, ensuring more firefighting teams can benefit from its groundbreaking solutions.
The seed round funding follows HEN’s earlier support from a National Science Foundation SBIR Federal Grant and includes investment from O’Neil Capital Partners, Cthulhu Ventures, Z21 Ventures, TiE Silicon Valley Angels, Sacramento Angels, and Shasta Angels.
Alex Garden, managing partner at O’Neil Strategic Capital, emphasized the significance of HEN’s technology in addressing modern firefighting challenges. “With climate change increasing the frequency and intensity of wildfires, there is a critical need for faster, more efficient tools to suppress fires and preserve our natural world. HEN’s technology not only reduces water consumption and extinguishes fires faster, but it also represents a significant leap forward for the entire firefighting industry. We believe HEN will become a transformative player in fire suppression worldwide.”
A Sustainable Future in Firefighting
As the climate crisis escalates the severity and frequency of fires, the need for efficient firefighting solutions is more urgent than ever. HEN Nozzles is at the forefront of this movement, delivering technology that saves lives, conserves water, and reduces the environmental and economic impact of fires. With its innovative approach and growing list of partners, HEN is poised to play a transformative role in the future of fire suppression technology.
