Generative AI Startup Typeface Acquires Treat and Narrato to Enhance Content Capabilities

by

Generative AI startup Typeface has made two significant acquisitions, purchasing Treat and Narrato to enhance its suite of enterprise-focused tools. The move comes just over a year after the company secured $165 million in funding at a $1 billion valuation.

Typeface announced on Monday that it acquired Treat, a company specializing in AI-powered personalized photo products, and Narrato, an AI-driven content creation and management platform. The startup emphasized that these acquisitions will enrich its “multimodal capabilities” and push forward its vision of transforming the content lifecycle end-to-end.

“Building on our foundation of multimodal AI workflows, these acquisitions’ top-tier AI technology and talent further enrich our visual and textual capabilities,” Typeface stated in a press release. The company added that the integration of Treat and Narrato would “supercharge” its portfolio of offerings for enterprise clients.

Typeface, founded in 2022 by former Adobe CTO Abhay Parasnis, provides tools for generating text and images tailored to a brand’s style, backed by a fine-tuning engine and seamless integration with third-party apps and services. A key differentiator for Typeface is its focus on brand governance and privacy, training dedicated AI models for each customer to ensure data security and compliance.

The newly acquired companies, Treat and Narrato, bring specialized technology that aligns with Typeface’s vision for the future of AI in enterprise content creation. Treat, headquartered in New York City and co-founded by Matt Osman and former Drizly CTO Hugh Hunter, leverages customer data to generate personalized product images. Its AI tools allow businesses to create visuals that resonate with specific demographics. For instance, Treat can design ads tailored to younger men by analyzing trends that show a preference for images of people consuming products, such as food advertisements.

Narrato, on the other hand, offers a robust platform for managing and creating AI-powered content, making it a valuable addition to Typeface’s expanding portfolio. The acquisition will allow Typeface to provide more comprehensive solutions to businesses, supporting everything from content creation to strategic brand management.

With these acquisitions, Typeface is poised to further its growth in the generative AI space, targeting enterprise clients who demand high-quality, customized AI solutions.
