Finnish mobile game developer Fingersoft has laid off 14 employees, citing a “substantial decline in ad revenue” as the primary reason. According to CEO Jaakko Kylmäoja, the layoffs affected roles in development, marketing, community management, and app store optimization, spread across the company rather than tied to any specific project.
“These reductions were necessary to adjust our cost structure, helping us maintain competitiveness and secure our long-term success,” Kylmäoja stated.
Founded in 2012 by Toni Fingerroos, Fingersoft gained popularity with its debut game Hill Climb Racing. Recently, the studio released Lego Hill Climb Adventures in May 2024.
Fingersoft is a game studio located in Oulu, Finland, making it one of the northernmost studios in the world. The studio is renowned for its mobile games, particularly Hill Climb Racing and Hill Climb Racing 2, which together have achieved over 2 billion installations.
Despite having a vast audience, Fingersoft maintains a small and personal work environment, emphasizing a relaxed, casual, and informal atmosphere. The team, composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds, is united by a shared passion for developing engaging games and fostering a fun workplace culture. The studio encourages its employees to excel in their roles without the limitations of excessive bureaucracy.
