Allara Health, a virtual care platform focused on women with chronic hormonal conditions, has raised $26 million in Series B funding, increasing its total funding to $38.5 million. The round was led by Index Ventures, with partner Martin Mignot joining Allara’s board, and participation from existing investor GV (Google Ventures). The funding will enable Allara to expand access to specialized care nationwide for women battling conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and hypothyroidism.
Addressing a Widespread and Underserved Need
One in three women faces a chronic hormonal condition in their lifetime, often leading to significant health challenges such as infertility, high-risk pregnancies, obesity, and diabetes. Despite the prevalence, 70% of PCOS cases go undiagnosed, and endometriosis takes an average of 10 years to diagnose. A study by KFF found that nearly 30% of women aged 18-64 felt dismissed by their doctors, leaving many to navigate symptoms without adequate support.
“Allara was built for the tens of millions of women living with complex hormonal and gynecologic conditions across the U.S., myself included,” said Rachel Blank, founder and CEO of Allara. “After receiving a PCOS diagnosis without sufficient medical support, I experienced firsthand the inequities in our healthcare system. At Allara, we ensure women can access affordable, personalized care that addresses their symptoms and helps them lead fulfilling lives.”
Whole-Body, Expert-Led Care
Allara’s team of OB-GYNs, endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, and registered dietitians provides a whole-body approach to care. Their evidence-based virtual programs combine medical expertise, lifestyle management, and community support to deliver personalized treatment plans. Over 75% of patients report feeling more in control of their health and hopeful about their outcomes within weeks of starting treatment.
2024: A Year of Growth and Milestones
In 2024, Allara expanded its care model to all 50 U.S. states and grew its patient base fourfold. The company also secured partnerships with major health plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, and United Healthcare, increasing affordability and accessibility for patients.
Allara further bolstered its clinical leadership with the appointment of Dr. Heather Huddleston as Chief Medical Officer. A specialist in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Huddleston brings decades of expertise and will guide Allara’s exploration into new areas of care.
With this new funding, Allara is poised to address the care gap for women with hormonal conditions, offering comprehensive support and transforming how these conditions are managed.
