Accenture has acquired Morphus, a privately held Brazilian provider of cyber defense, risk management, and threat intelligence services, expanding its practice capabilities in Brazil and Latin America. The financial details were not disclosed.
Morphus was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Fortaleza, Ceará, in northeastern Brazil, with offices in Recife, So Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Santiago, Chile. Morphus’ comprehensive portfolio consists of red and blue team services, governance, risk, and compliance services, enterprise risk management, cyber strategy, threat intelligence, and managed security services (MSS).
According to Accenture’s recent Cyber Threat Intelligence research, Brazil is one of the top victims of infostealer malware – a malicious software designed to steal victim information such as passwords.
Accenture has announced the acquisition of Morphus, a Brazilian cybersecurity firm. The acquisition will expand Accenture Security’s capabilities and workforce in Brazil, adding over 230 cybersecurity professionals to its team. Paolo Dal Cin, the global head of Accenture Security, said the acquisition would help clients strengthen their cyber defenses and make Accenture one of the largest cybersecurity professional services providers in Brazil.
The acquisition broadens Accenture’s portfolio and heralds the establishment of a Cyber Industry practice in Latin America led by seasoned former Morphus CISOs. Accenture’s position in Growth Markets in Morphus’ primary industry groups: communications, media and technology, financial services, energy, retail, and aviation is also strengthened by the new offerings.
Accenture Morphus Labs, a research facility in Fortaleza dedicated to cybersecurity studies, vulnerability and threat analysis, and MSS, has been acquired by Accenture, which has a strong presence in Brazil and Chile. Accenture’s existing global network, which includes Morphus’ cybersecurity R&D capabilities, will be expanded with the addition of a new Cyber Fusion Center in Fortaleza.
Accenture Security has made 16 acquisitions since 2015. Accenture became one of the leading global providers of MSS after acquiring Symantec’s Cyber Security Services business in January 2020. Accenture expanded its cyber defense and MSS capabilities in 2021 with the acquisitions of Real Protect from Brazil and Sentor and Openminded from Europe.
