Fortera, a materials technology company based in San Jose, California, has raised $85 million in Series C funding. The round was backed by investors including Khosla Ventures, Temasek, Wollemi Capital, NOVA by Saint-Gobain, Presidio Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.

The funding will enable Fortera to accelerate the deployment of its innovative low-carbon cement technology, which integrates seamlessly with existing cement production infrastructure.

Led by CEO Ryan Gilliam, Fortera has developed a transformative process known as ReCarb®, which allows for the production of low-carbon cement using current facilities. The company operates its first ReCarb® Plant in Redding, California, where it manufactures ReAct® green cement. This sustainable cement meets regulatory standards and can either supplement or replace traditional cement in various applications. With over a decade of product demonstrations and more than 100 patents, Fortera is positioning itself as a leader in the global shift toward zero CO2 cement production.
