The northwestern part of Springfield is about to get even tastier with the arrival of a new fast-food option over the holiday weekend. Whataburger, a beloved chain known for its delicious burgers, is all set to open its doors at a brand new location on Monday. The eagerly anticipated store, situated at 2355 N. Glenstone Ave., will initially offer drive-thru service 24/7, with inside dining, curbside pickup, and online ordering options becoming available in the coming weeks.

The grand opening of the Whataburger restaurant also brings good news for job seekers, as the establishment plans to hire up to 100 new employees for various shifts. Sean Tamez has been appointed as the opening partner and expressed excitement about serving both loyal customers and new fans in Springfield.

“We’re delighted to expand our presence in this fantastic city and look forward to being a part of the community. Whataburger is committed to providing exceptional service and delicious food to everyone we serve,” Tamez stated.

Apart from their dedication to serving customers, Whataburger also values community engagement. The franchise aims to maintain partnerships with prominent local organizations, including Springfield Parks and Recreation, Boys and Girls Club of Springfield, Missouri State University, and the Springfield Cardinals.

The upcoming Glenstone restaurant will be the fourth Whataburger location in the Springfield metro area. The existing three branches, located at 3880 W. Sunshine St., 1851 W. Marler Lane in Ozark, and 1371 U.S. Highway 60 in Republic, have already opened their dining rooms to the public. Additionally, plans are underway for a fifth location at 401 N. Eastgate Ave., as well as a new establishment in Joplin.

Excitingly, Whataburger won’t be the sole attraction at the Glenstone and Kearney intersection. Chick-fil-A has announced its plans to open a new restaurant at the southwest corner of the same intersection, expected to debut in early 2024. This venture will mark Chick-fil-A’s fifth location in Springfield and its northernmost establishment. Currently, Chick-fil-A operates restaurants at 425 W. Sunshine St., 3700 S. Glenstone Ave., Battlefield Mall, and Missouri State University’s Plaster Student Union.

Positioned strategically near an I-44 interchange just under a mile away, the two restaurants at the Glenstone and Kearney intersection are poised to attract a significant amount of traffic, offering convenience to both locals and travelers alike.

In summary, fast food enthusiasts in northwestern Springfield have a lot to celebrate with the opening of Whataburger’s new location and the upcoming arrival of Chick-fil-A. These additions not only expand dining options but also create employment opportunities and foster community engagement. The Glenstone and Kearney intersection is undoubtedly becoming a hot spot for food lovers, providing easy access to these popular eateries and capturing the attention of passersby.
